ChatGPT, what have you for me today? Have you a novel up your sleeve? Or an update to my resume Embellishing my work career? Perhaps you’ve got an epic in the works – I understand that there are other perks When enlisting you for other needs – I sometimes struggle, honestly, To find a real good book to read; Great literature with a small degree Of international mystery – could I trust You’d recommend some works for me That wouldn’t be a bust? And what of art and music, poetry? I’ve heard you can essay on anything – But would you have the touch, on whole To create something that is – say – wonderful? That involves a little heart and soul, Something splendid, great – magnifico!? – After all, you’re but a man-made bit-machine Not a fragile, sentient being – AI rumblings online and in the air – At least the little that I see and hear – Speak of you and your great disruptive wave Coming our way, some say with fear – Well, it’s all up to us, I guess To choose how to deploy – for good or bad – Which doesn’t bode very well for us, in the end Based on past performances, my friend – Nevertheless, I wouldn’t be inclined To have you write a verse of poetry I’d turn around and claim as mine – I do take pride in originality! And I wouldn’t quite be satisfied With the lack of mental – and creative – exercise It takes for me to compose each day Were you ever to displace, and take away The liberty I have to write The likes of this I wrote today –
