As Below So Above
For years he queried stone scree and gravel, yet the more he dug the more the stone, scree and gravel fell back inward again into the quarry. Hot, tired, sweaty, and worn-out by his labors he sat resting despondent by the side of the shallow pit. With closed eyes he day-dreamed that the rains came; that the shallow pit filled with clear water. Grasses and green shrubs flourished as the stony ground gave way; becoming deeply blanketed with rich loam and soil. Swans came to the pool, then other birds, fish began to appear under the clear water. He smiled as lovely maidens came to bathe there, and as they frolicked in the newly made pond they sang to him a sweet song one that told of all that he had struggled to accomplish here on this rugged earth, how all that hard rough work had become a most great work that even now was instantly completed in heaven. The maidens thanked the man for the beauty he had wrought, even though for now he only saw this through a glass but darkly soon he would clearly behold the wonder of his works. He smiled content at last as his laboring heart beat one last time.
