Kismet
My kismet seemed to have arrived long ago, With love at first sight. So long ago, I invited her to see a film. There in the darkness of the theatre I was mesmerized by a tune. A prince, disguised as a gardener, Sang of his love to his princess. “Take my hand, I’m a stranger in paradise.” How true I thought. From there I sat With my newfound date, lovely as a rose. Dare I take her hand, would I be in paradise? We were not in wonderland, a garden Adorned with fragrant flowers And peacocks displaying their white Grand feathers, nor were there exotic trees. But I dared and took her soft warm hand, Gave her a tiny squeeze to show I cared. Then we were in paradise as we softly kissed. She kept her promise to meet me the next day. Soon the wedding bells rang and chimed their tune, And happily, we pledged our vows. This was our kismet. Such a long time ago, but the song always Resonated in my mind, “Strangers in Paradise”. Oh we had our ups and downs, but Together in full love, we lived in happiness. Not even death can change our life Until we will both be in another paradise. Then we will be strangers no more.
