Yet an excess of pride verges on conceit Swells the ego and tarries the mind Just like an excess of salt in a food Leaves an unsavoury taste behind; The faltered mind gnaws all humility, In a human soul and in a lapse of time Drives him to fall at the altar of vanity. Let a little pride steer the human tide As one moves along the journey of life To reach one`s cherished goal in a stride And not allow an excess of ego To whirl the way to shame and damnation But permit a pinch of pride to goad the path To one`s destination and salvation.
