Telling the Tale
Uncle Ed was the first guest to arrive, he was eager to hear the tale. He perched on the edge of an arm chair, after he’d had a bit of ale. A chipmunk and two bunnies hopped in along with the morning mail. Grandma Mink sensed faeries, for her sixth-sense is holy like the grail. Grandpa Mink had his back to the fire, he was raring to tell the tale. Treasure maps at his feet showed where the pirate ships should sail. Two bunnies and a chipmunk hopped in, one had posted some bail. Has he started yet? Asked the persnickety cat; who was licking her tail. The wedding photo from the mantel fell down, for it had a rusty nail. Light from the fireplace slithered around the room at the pace of a snail. Balconies in the library were full of the infamous fey, I felt without fail. If you don’t believe me, you may ask my psychic empathic cousin, Dale. I noted a particularly large faerie perched on an intricate guard rail. I envisioned her taking a flying leap and landing like a parasail. Six more people arrived during the storm, which was a treacherous gale. Now that we are all here, Grandpa Mink said, “I shall begin to tell the tale.”
