Lasting Sunrise
It was a cold winter day, when I took a photo of the sunrise I had no idea what I would find out, hours later The man I loved who made the biggest difference in my life, had died I remember hyperventilating, I remember the world seemed to be spinning I was in so much disbelief, I had to race to get his death record Later, I visited an empty graveyard, covered with snow Christmas trees were beside the graves all around Black crows were breaking the silence, as I stood in shock motionless I did not know how to face another day or even an hour He was a Lieutenant who helped me with a case regarding a childhood friend’s death It was all surreal, traumatizing, devastating, a shock I cannot describe I knew that I had to move on for him and that is what I did But, the impact his death had on my life remains to this day I am grateful for the time I had with him and everything he gave me I have been asked, would I have rather not have met him? - The answer is a bellowing “No”! - He taught me what loving through differences and conflict is all about He will never leave my heart and is always in my prayers Some deaths are enough to shake this world, but leave reflections of light forever He is the light, when all is dark; He is the sunrise that shines each day for me!
