I Remember Fondly, My Early Years
I remember being in my crib, hugging a soft Teddy Bear. I remember, my Mother, so young, reading poetry to me. I remember being a wee girl, dancing, in front ot a tall mirror. I remember my first school leather bag, with my initials in gold. I remember crowning flowers on Mary on May first, in second grade. I remember my fear during blackouts….during World War II. I remember my hands holding a rosary during my First Holy Communion. I remember the exquisite joy, rolling down hills of crystalline, white snow. I remember the sweet joy of church carnivals with my friends. I remember Saint Mary’s church bells ringing without fail.at noon. I remember a life with no TV, and great radio shows about books. I remember the wonderful sound and smell of silver cap guns, going off. I remember waving flags at parades, Panagiota, so proud to be an American! I remember the uncles who went to Europe in uniform, never to return. I remember the joy of playing Cowboys and Indians. I remember a world free of political correctness, where respect ruled. But~ my best memory is indeed, yet to come! 1/14/2023
