Truth Matters
We are taught, truth is relative. But when students are caught cheating, We slap them with a failing grade. The truth seems to really matter. False details on a resume Can get an employee fired. A cheating spouse could be divorced After all, truth really matters. People found guilty of a crime Are punished with jail time or fines. We teach our kids to tell the truth So then, the truth really matters. But who determines what is truth? The government or society? If it is them, the truth could change, and it then would be relative. God is the only source of truth, His nature is unchangeable. The laws He makes, they never change. His truth endures from age to age. You shall not steal, His law declares That’s why it’s wrong to cheat and steal. You shall not kill, His law commands That’s why it’s wrong to slay a “man.” Were this not true, where would we be? Two plus two could well equal three. There may not be, no black or white but fifty shades of ghoulish gray. It’s time to stop the foolish talk about truth being relative and cancel alternative truth Because the truth really matters
