Metaverse Crush
Through your avatar I knew how you would look Time has taken the memories from our created book As long as it's been - from where we began I wish we would've kept together like gamers we always did Lost as a child - and slowly losing resilience Not a millisecond where I regret your metaverse existence As kids we had big plans - my super•duper•best•friend•man My hacker, my Tron, my metaverse crush, king of the clan - as well as each other's age You'd always be my diary on the other side of this digitized page My pen-pal from forever, my should•not•have•been•ex-lover, my best friend, my solitude, & my peace Forever I was in your metaverse, and you in mine But I didn't think much of that at the time My metaverse crush would always be there & caught my pixelated tears before they'd even fall Finally years later I reached out to my metaverse crush Upon seeing you, the memories flooded back with a rush All of a sudden, it then occurred to me - It was still only you I could trust They arose & surged through my veins I've finally put your face to a name So ever so often I would write a page in the diary of us While most of our childhood memories were lost in the dust A breath of fresh air, a non-judgmental affair A normal dude there & a witch over here From two separate sides of this corrupt country we're in I'm just devastated that it ended before it really began Still in my fading memories I see that even then you wanted to believe Pouring into our memories, I'd cry, I'd sweat, & I'd bleed 'Cause this metaverse crush - turned real life - in my heart I don't think at the time we even gave it long enough to see...
