Old and Young
I am a woman in my fifties, and have suffered widow pain I said that I would never join, the dating game again But never have I been so struck, and confidence unfurl Met this young man the other day, my brain went in a whirl I tried to walk straight past him, that was never gonna work My pulse was wildly beating, my brain had gone berserk Quickly try to catch a thought, an innocent approach How to word my introduction, leave no chance of reproach Maybe try the simple way, he seems not sophisticated Tell him I am completely lost, and totally frustrated I am going to a restaurant, to meet my best girlfriend Could he help me with directions, it would be a real godsend I made it somewhat difficult, directions to explain When he had done the best he could, I asked him once again He said, well I could take you there, not much out of my way Hoped the walk would give me time, find a reason he could stay When we got there I looked inside, she's not here yet I said Would you have a coffee with me, got to get inside his head His answer was just as I hoped, his innocence he showed He said that he would love to, could we sit out near the road I had to get him right inside, could not sit out on display I did not want to be seen there, should be at work today I gave a little shiver, as if I was getting cold Had no idea about my whiles, he was twenty five years old He apologised profusely, said he really should have known A lady dressed in office clothes, could not be seen with him alone We slowly drank our coffee, and had quite a little talk I asked him would he like to come, where nobody could gawk I knew I really had him done, left him with no way out Now I just had to get him home, say we could just hang out That was the start of something beautiful, no more I need to say Except, what will surprise you, we are good friends to this day
