I Dreamt a Mermaid
I dreamt that I went swimming In the deep blue sea Along came a mermaid Who swam right next to me What most I remember Is she pulled me underneath Into a cave where it was dark Deep, below the coral reef She opened up my pocket And she dropped a pearl inside Then she said "Hop on my tail... We're going for a ride" She took me to a shipwreck Decaying on the ocean's floor And she wanted me to swim with her Inside the captain's cabin door Suddenly, we both swam inside And she led me to some jewels She said that they were thrown overboard By some drunken pirate fools She pointed to my pocket With the pearl stuck in my vest And she wanted me to take it out So, I could return it with the rest As soon as I returned the pearl The mermaid lost her tail Then, she walked the aisle with me Wearing a "pearl white" veil The next day before I fell asleep I was happy and full of glee Because I knew that I would kiss my wife If I jumped into the sea
