Keys Above My Knees
My first touch of a piano I was five when I sat on a stool I heard a high "do" and a lower "do" Then I stepped on a pedal as tool I was touching different keys Hearing each key with a different note Delighted with every pitch of keys And by sounds above the musical tote As I pluck with each note I started to wonder and concentrate Bothered on my eye with a mote I got distracted to orchestrate Wondering why so many keys to prick Counting all keys like queach Eighty-eight pieces of stick A long line for my short reach I stopped for a while thinking How to reach all keys with ease Looked for a bench and sat to mease Moving left to right to control my pacing I started playing with excitement Cousins behind me watching with bewilderment I was asked what I was playing I said, "Mozart's, maybe...," then they started laughing I laughed with them too And asked to teach me how I was told, "Feel the keys above your knees..." "They'll tell you if they match with your pleas!"
