Destiny's Dream
Had the strangest dream last night. Merlin appeared in a cloak of white. Wielding no magic, he related how tragic, That many couldn't stand and fight. With crystalline focus at hand, Didn't know what he had planned. Casting ego aside, I swallowed my pride; And made a commitment to understand. Inching closer as to begin, Placing staff under his chin. The fear in my eyes, and total surprise; Brought forth his Cheshire Cat grin. "I've chosen you to free the meek. For the liberty they would seek." "To troubled lands, as the hour hands; Pass in moments instead of a week." Waving same powerful staff, Growing taller than a giraffe. The expression that rose, from my face that froze; Only made the Sorcerer laugh. Walking in a forest, bound by rings. Within a stone, the Sword of Kings. Left in safe keeping, as I began weeping; For the air had become our wings. Excalibur, now handled by me, We landed on a mighty oak tree. Perched high at its peak, and unable to speak; Were the masses below and unfree. "These are the people I meant. Where hopes and dreams are spent," "By selfish factions, that justify actions; That can no longer be given or lent." "Their motives lack humanity, That spawns endless calamity." My face growing pale, as I witnessed their Hell, Was governed by blatant insanity. "For my plan to fully succeed, You must first learn tactics to lead." "Armed with compassion, you'll be able to fashion, A path from corruption and greed." As my heart wrenched in their pain, Salty tears would continue to stain, The internal voice, that confirmed my choice; To be the captain of freedoms plane. "Now you know what must be done. I'll give you keys to unlock the sun." "Blinding the night, to illuminate sight; Will grant peace to everyone." Raising staff high above his head, The last words of wisdom he said: "Go into the light, and prepare for the plight; That many would commonly dread." As I awoke in my bed with a scream, Could this really be all it might seem? A true vision quest, to unshackle the rest; Or just one magical, lucid dream.
