That Baby Goat
A little doll, that baby goat Unsteady legs and soft brown coat A wonderful addition to the farm In front of you, before you knew Just sprouted up and grew and grew Till she could not sleep in their water bowl With her new horns she did commence To get her head stuck in a fence Made us afraid a dog would do her harm The other day, we took a walk Missy was mum, and so I talked And wondered where was Muffin on our stroll We made some noise and called her name And then we did, and did again Then she appeared; the third time was the charm I am no vet, no way to tell Just felt to me she was not well So I suggested that she might be sick They went outside and checked that night Up and around, she seemed alright So none of us gave it a lot more thought She spent the day out in the sun But mostly leaned against her mum And we all hoped that that would do the trick But it was clear that she was thin Her ribs were plain beneath her skin We guessed it was a parasite she caught Still looking poor and much forlorn She’d get a treatment in the morn Instead she passed that night; it took her quick I look for her but she’s not there It’s likely odd that I would care But life at times can seem a sad affair ————— A Tripadi with some end rhymes
