The Steel and the Sand
To the clan of the sun, who walk the dunes, and sleep in the shade. to the clan of shadows, who ride the steel rails, and sleep in the rain. who have never in life known, they were of one. but now in death they shall join at heaven's door. they will walk together into the light. they will ride as one into the shadow of night. So, when you hear that lonesome whistle blow, you'll know it's them laughing and singing, somewhere in the distance. close your eyes and say a word; may god keep those of you, who have ridden on, and watch over those still among us. So, when my ticket is finally punched, and my trains ready to roll down the final track. i watch as life's station leaves my sight, i'll know i'm comming to join you. then we can finally take, that frist ride together. than shall we forever be of one.
