Her reflection, a beautiful woman from some enchanted tale Yesterday she was a girl child, today a full flower of womanhood Honey colored hair falling across her cheek Like a photograph, this moment to keep forever The hem of the dress sweeps the floor The fabric arranging itself in gleaming folds The sleeves flattering like little butterflies And the deep neckline reveals her best features Pretty plump shoulders of tan and gold With high heels, it will be just right She will wear her Mama's pearl drop earrings Her Grandmother's locket Of course she will need to do her hair Maybe sweep it up high, with little tendrils over her ears She can almost hear the music in her mind She glows...she smiles...she takes a deep breath... She turns, and there is her mother Handing her father a tissue And before this day .....she had never seen him cry.
