Oh, Wind
"The wind is the pounding of my heart." Oh, wind, outside my window you are blowing. I am so forlorn here, for my love is gone. He’s gone, wind, and I’m left here with the knowing my heart will ache and ache. How can I go on? But suddenly, oh wind, you are not sounding! Oh, wind, ours was a passion like the pounding you bring upon the trees and pretty flowers. You have left me too? I weep for hours and hours. Aug. 9, 2022 Let Your Muse Be Inspired - R Form Poetry Contest Sponsor: Constance La France A Rispetto is a type of poem that is made up of two rhyming quatrains that follow a strict meter. This complete poem is structured with a meter that typically looks like the following: abab ccdd, although there are, of course, other variations that can be had as well. Note: While hours and flowers rhyme, according to Rhymezone, hours has only one syllable while flowers has two syllables (See Howmanysyllables.com) I was looking at examples of how many syllables per line for this form. 11 is the preferred number, but some other examples gave fewer than 11, so it seems to me that you can use at least 9, 10 or 11 syllables per line.
