Airport Waiting
At the Airport, waiting for the plane, I look around and see Heads all down, screens alight, conversation naught. People sitting, concentrating, fingers flying, No discussion, silently watching, no hello or goodbye. Laptops open, Apps displaying, checking data shown Facebook posting, message sending, emails answered too. Chips are crunching; gum is popping, and eyes all down, Earphones hanging, noiseless watching, I silently smile. Unknown people, business minding, waiting patiently, Silent sitting, people staring, no expression shown. Books are open, pages turning, another chapter gone, I am writing, quietly observing, time is ticking by Anxiously waiting, stand or seated, lined up for the call. Arms are crossing, legs are stretching, others pacing around, Delay in boarding, steward calling, apologies announced. People wriggling, children whining, boredom rising fast, Glitch in system, technology failing, repairs still underway. Times a ticking, people sighing, hoping not too long, Boarding happening, bags now gathered, priority passengers called. Gates have opened, people moving, stewards checking pass, Seats now filling, belts all fastened, purring engine heard. People chatting, lights are shining, doors are all closed, Announcement broadcast, safety demo, wheels are rolling down. Captain speaking, welcome given, lift off happening, too late now, Sit relaxing; we are flying, finally homeward bound.
