Adieu, My Love
Throgh the clamor of distressful days I live in soulful memory of my ‘girl’ In vain, I keep my door ajar For her light footsteps, once more to fall On my lonely bed, I often turn around For her closeness whenever I feel alone Through dingy corridors, wildly stray After elusive shadows, wander forlorn. I know she is in some far Paradise Her eyes feasting on the glory of each new dawn With fadeless flowers blossoming around And endless mysteries in all marvels born Though an emptiness often engulfs me I am reminded of the love she has graciously left That she used to avow between tender sighs Whenever I lay silent on her cleaving breast I know, I am now a lone, weary traveler Slouching unsteady as my life moulders But with stoic endurance, I shall bear My hefty baggage on my weak shoulders Now I wait for the fading of the night For another new dawn yet to break above To begin life all over anew To be united evermore with my dainty Love Till then… till we are one, my love Farewell! Farewell, my sweet dove!! __________________________________ July.2.2022 ~Placed Fourth~ Farewell Theme Rhyming Poetry Contest Sponsor: Lisa YY
