Ages
I heard a lullaby from a neighbour's house, Eagerly I peeped in through the window And saw the cradle carrying a baby swinging to and frow, I watched the rejoicing audiences, who were the family members, Where the five-month baby stole the whole show. I took a few steps towards the main road, And got a glimpse of little dreamers, They were cycling, playing, pouring livelihood to the barren ground, And watching them seamlessly enjoying, I realised That this generation has energies, that knew no bound. And at the end of a busy road, there was a cafe renowned, Where the young hearts fluttering and flattering were found Tasting the flavours of their newly discovered youth, I chose not to stay there for too long, I did not want to be their uninterrupted guest, so I took another route. Finally when I reached back home, Came running my mom who was suffering from ill mental health, Who only finds peace when I come, Hugging her tight, I earned her smile which is my most valuable wealth. And her smile reminded me of the five-month-old child, And of the innocence that dwelled in his eye, That is when I realised that what I watched was Nothing but the ages passing by.
