Sparkling Cyanide
She invited him over for a talk. This was new. He had not been in their house for years. What about the restraining order? Was this a trick? He rang the doorbell. His children were delighted to see him. He gave them both a hug. They were on their way out. Somewhere with grandma. She blew the horn and gave him the bird. Some things never changed. “Go on in Daddy!” his daughter said. He did not dare. Matter of fact, he brought printed proof that Dot had invited him. He did not need a cop to show up and arrest him. “Coming!” It was her voice. She sounded excited. It had been his experience That when she used this voice She was up to something. He wondered what it was. He should have pondered a little longer Before accepting the drink she had pre-poured.
