Let Your Light Shine
Let your light shine; don’t seek praises of men. Do your good works such that He’s glorified. It’s not how you pray, but that you’re with Him. In all things, make Christ the one magnified. Be spied doing good; don’t do good to be spied. There’s no need for oaths, just a “yes” and amen. Expect no return, no favor implied. Let your light shine; don’t seek praises of men. Compassion should guide you, not duty or whim; You’ll know it’s right from the prompting inside. Bring no attention; unnoticed, begin. Do your good works such that He’s glorified. Don’t use big words, James Earl Jones amplified; Don’t go forever, and breathe now and then. Why do you pray? Not to be justified: It’s not how you pray, but that you’re with Him. When you are fasting, it’s not to get thin. Put on a fresh face; there’s no need to hide. Neither to share just how long it has been. In all things, make Christ the one magnified. The light that you shine: a reflection of Him. The alms that you give are what He supplied. The hope that you share is His life within. The world needs to know that He rose once He died; Let your light shine! ————— For the A Rondeau Redouble Poem Poetry Contest Sponsored by Milton Hankins Written on 06/07/2022
