Rain Drip Drop Dripping
Thunder shudders On a cool summer’s night The air is brisk, the ground is still dry Round and robust rain clouds roll in Thunder shakes roofs of tin, I look through the window pane, thin Rain drip drop dripping on roof tops, Lightning strikes, pop Trickling streams, Down windows they run, Patiently waiting for the return of the sun, she is playing peek-a-boo behind clouds, A crackling crack of lighting connects with the ground Thunder follows, fast and loud. The wind howls, Swirling gusts sweep rain like slicing sideways sheets Cold rain cuts into the countryside, Drenching the dirt, making mud puddles to stomp, Oh, this rain, will it ever stop? Rain pitter patters, tinking a top my roof, Tapping on the glass, drip dropping on the stoop. The lightning ceases and the thunder quits, On my front stoop I sit A subtle soft shower lingers, Saturating the humid air, Extended hand, feeling the rain with my fingers As the last drops of rain sprinkle from the sky The clouds begin to part, traded for streaks of light, Through a small gap the sun does shine, on this house of mine Reflection on the pavement, The smell, something of a sentiment, Reminiscing on rain drops, drip drop dripping on my roof top.
