Caged and Chained
Locked in a cage, Bound by chains, I’m a prisoner of fear, Full of growing pains And afraid of change In a future that is near. From all the struggles, I seek release, Relief from what troubles, The ability to be humble And a way to achieve inner peace. I no longer swing From the ropes of shame, Instead I sing of The beauty after the rain. Break free, Of doing the same, Day to day, So afraid of change. Don’t fear uncertainty, Or the retrograde of mercury. Welcome each blessing As a new beginning And life’s way of testing, Look for the deeper meaning. Life is full of hardships That try to make you afraid, But don’t let those hangups Keep you ashamed. Remember, Faith over fear. When it rains it pours And that’s why we pray. God reached down And lifted the cage, He cut the chains That bound me to solid ground. He knew that I was meant to be free And now, Even through blinding fear I can see.
