Running the Race of My Life
As I look back with tears in my eyes, I know what it feels like to be paralyzed. When you are vulnerable and unable, To do just the simple things in life. You have no car, No job, No independence, And no freedom. Your in a room alone, With a T.V. who is your babysitter. I have no visitors, Only nurses and therapists, They talk I listen. Yes I do remember .....everything. Now my muscles are waking up, And all I want is to get better, So that I can take everything back, That is mine-everything she stole from me. Two (2) years seems like a lifetime, When the road has been long and bumpy. I started out in a 2 wheel Cadillac, Then a 2 wheel sedan and, Finally a snazzy walking cane. So I am walking walking, To that finish line. My race is almost finished. I walk alittle slower these days, But at least I can walk now. I see the finish line. The people I recognize have, Been with me since the beginning. Doctor's, nurse's, therapist's, And my true friends. I see no family-nor do I want to. They destroyed my life and, Took everything from me. So when I cross that finish line, I will need no help walking because, I know that I AM FINALLY FREE!!!!
