Laugh, My Friend
Rhyme: AABB, i.e., lines 1 & 2; 3 & 4 Rhythm: Trochaic tetrameter, i.e., Each line as: BAH-bah BAH-bah BAH-bah BAH-bah 1) God our great and loving daddy Wants us always to be happy. Humans are the only creatures, Gifted with the laughing features. 2) Open your lips wide an’ laugh well. Ripen your laugh; gloom sen’ to hell. Lighten your load; lengthen your days. Heighten your joy; strengthen your blaze. 3) Brighten with a loud laugh your face; Frighten worries; lift up your gaze. Laugh, my good friend, loud an’ have fun; Half the problems gone then; well done. 4) Laughing ther’py works like magic, Healing inner mem’ries tragic, Making faces glow with grace well, Taking inner en’rgy to swell. 5) Saving good laughs is my hobby; Will you kindly send one to me? This old man has hearing hardened; Please laugh louder; thank you, good friend.
