Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required Life’s not lived on a single shore, A long trek that shore-to-shore goes, It learns and moves on from failure. Each failure, what a bitter cure, If endured, what a healing dose! Life never is a single shore. Should life a success spell for sure, One must learn to take highs with lows, Not success, life learns from failure, That comes a knocking at closed door, To push ajar that door of woes, Life succeeds from no single shore. A voice echoes deep from the core: Life’s success to long journeys owes, From failures life learns all the more. A lady of a lifetime’s lure Of fleeting highs and heavy lows, No lesson of a single shore, Life learns from failure to failure. --------------------------------- Villanelle | 06.02.2007, revised March 2022 | Note: Like all Villanelles, the first and third lines of the first stanza alternate here as refrains, maintaining the same message, but they are not repeated verbatim with the same words.
