Apologetic Eyes
I awoke all alone; she snuck out late last night, and my fragile heart is breaking. She'd silently slipped out, without debate, and as my world shook, I was left quaking. Her lingering scent was still in the air, making me instantly regret our fight. For ebony shadows merge with despair when there is no light, for shadows need light. She left a note, written with words of Hope, a reminder of the good times we've shared. And as I read it, her words wove a rope that pulled at my heartstrings, saying she cared. I nervously rushed to her, head hung low, and begged her not to throw our love away. And asked her why she felt she had to go, what could I say to convince her to stay? As my apologetic eyes leaked tears, I sought forgiveness with my heart and soul. And she gently kissed me, calming my fears— my heart had shattered; that kiss made it whole.
