End of the World
Suppose the world might come to an end tonight The earth, as we know it, heaving a last gasping sigh, Whether by divine providence, or some fool’s delight, We have no way of knowing when the time is nigh. The earth, as we know it, heaving a last gasping sigh, Its moon turning to blood and its oceans seething We have no way of knowing when the time is nigh, We don’t know the second we will stop breathing. Its moon turning to blood and its oceans seething, Burning as though the sun has exploded in a fury, We don’t know the second we will stop breathing So, we continue through life as though in a hurry. Burning as though the sun has exploded in a fury Some have prophesied the earth will be so fated So we continue through life as though in a hurry, Somehow believing when it’s over, we’ll be elated. Some have prophesied the earth will be so fated, Whether by divine providence or some fool’s delight, Somehow believing when it’s over, we’ll be elated Suppose the world might come to an end tonight.
