Betrayal
You were my friend But now you’re gone you’ve left me wondering What I have done wrong I put my trust in you And you threw it all away Devaluing my loyalty With the hurtful words you say The pain of the wound From your knife plunged in my back Has left me here wondering What is it that I lack? Am I just not good enough? Am I not worthy to be your friend? Did I not pledge to you That I’d support you until the end? Did I fail you somehow? Did I not hold you up high? Did I not encourage you enough? Did I not teach you how to fly? And this is how you repay me Spitting out nothing but lies You turned others against me But it's me who’s cutting the ties. You think that you can hurt me But you are more than wrong I will send you away with love and show you that I am strong I will not allow this to break me I will continue to stand in my light Try to douse my flame once more Then it’s a war you’ll have to fight. 2/5/2022
