Cage of Glass
You don’t know me… You don’t know my past… If you did would you judge me for my pain so vast? Did you hear about that one baby girl? No one was there to save her faded world The one who was forced to do bad things A child to never dream of queens and kings Did you know her mother denied any blame Could you ever understand any of her shame…. Did you know he’d come visit her every week And that she wasn’t ever allowed to speak… Did you know he’d do that until she turned nine Did you know it messed up her young mind? Could you feel her loneliness & the cold Did you know at nine she felt so old You don’t know me! You don’t know my past.. if you did would you have taken time to ask Did you know at thirteen, two men had their way She couldn’t tell, they’d say it was she who wanted to play Did you know she was lost and seen no reason All her teenage years, men she spent pleasing Did you know she had no self respect Growing harder, her intent was to protect Always trying to defend herself against the lies Would you believe at night one could hear her cries Did you know all the drama seemed to continue Did you know acts of kindness was far and few Do you know how much in life she had to endure Did you know she lacked any sense of secure Did you know how much she ached with pain Did you know that she could never complain Did you know how life was an exhausting blur But you should never pity or feel sorry for her You don’t know me You don’t know my past If you did would you think me to fast Did you know she wasn’t bitter towards all man kind Or that it was her smile she hid her tears behind Could you imagine she grew to be very strong How she knew best what was right and wrong Do you know she took that grief and pain Kept inside herself so she herself so she could maintain You know she turned it into her strength Do you know she’d help others going to any length It’s said she takes little things way to far Yet her purpose “help others reach for their star” Saying she’s a b**** and is way too hard But their opinions, she gives them no regard She became a great fighter for those she sees, living a life crying out for help to be free Giving a love she was never shown Would you still judge her if her past you’d known You don’t know me You don’t know my past If you did would you free me from my cage of glass
