Old Goat
There was a little Nubian; The kids just called her Split. Banana was her mama, and She looked like her a bit. One day Split caught a nasty bug, A mean old parasite. It nearly took the poor girl out; few thought she’d make the night. But Miss Split caught a break that day, Some say she caught one good; An old goat came and took her in And did the best he could. It took a while, but she came ‘round, Could stand all on her own. You’d never know that she’d been sick With all the progress shown. The kids were glad to see their pet And raised a joyful shout! The only problem was one leg; It wouldn’t straighten out. So GV took to feeding her To help that leg get straight, And even though she hobbles some, She’s really doing great. That old goat drops by here and there, Checks in from time to time; Miss Split comes running out to him And says she’s doing fine.
