Being a King
Without a king, We face the open waters of raging oceans Seated upon rafts devoid of oars! Without a king, We gulp as shadows dance in broad daylight Holding power in between their grips Sneering at us as we wonder at what shall Be our fates! Without a king, We all become asylum seekers There where other kings rule Imbibed with spiritual abidance To moral principles! Kings lead by example And since we are submissive to their will Are we not kings and queens In our own right? Don't we have to be accountable to how We are slowly killing Earth? Or to how selfish and evil we can be Towards those whom we envy? Can't we be empowered enough To hold out hands to those drowning in deep wells? Can't we dress ourselves with the robes of virtue And lift up those who are oppressed, Or deprived In a world which shall never belong To any of us, Whether we be its king, Or its subjects? Kings are those who maintain order, to allow Continuity and sustainability King are those who shine on their thrones Chosen, lauded and praised by their people But then, Kings are also those who remind us all That we are also made of royalty And that we can be the unsung heroes and heroines Of the script that we play in, leading anonymously But, Rejoicing of the feel good factor that such gives us!
