I’ve sat here questioning myself numerous times do I want to open this Pandora’s Box? Am I ready to experience the backlash that will come after all of the pain I will have dropped? Dropped into your lap like an unwanted present that you didn’t ask to receive, am I right in putting you through this? Someone whom has never done anything to me You don’t deserve the slap in the face in which you will receive, like a hard gust of wind being blown in from the darkest of seas You don’t deserve the pain that will sear your heart like a knife, after the truth that I lay down at your feet through the words that I am sitting here about to write Am I ready to answer for all of the sins that back then I did commit? Can I look you in the eyes without crying myself, for my fault in all of this? I don’t really know, I really can’t say, I guess that I will just have to wait and see how it all plays out, after you hear the words that I am trying to convey It’s not that I want to hurt you, and yes it is unfair, but I feel that you need to know where he was emotionally all of those years ago when he wasn’t there You need to know that back then in that time another held his heart, another looked deep into his eyes and accepted all of his charm I was in his arms and he was slow dancing with me, with no music at all to listen to only the sound of our heartbeats It was my lips that he touched with his so sweet, so passionately, it was my warmth that he held onto in the night, it was me that he had wanted to see I was the one that he told me that he loved me so, I was the one that he held onto for dear life, that he didn’t want to let go It was my face that he imagined when he would write sweet nothings to me, it was my heart that he broke into when he told me that we couldn’t be I was the one that he missed when he went back to you, I was the one that he couldn’t bear not to ever again talk to I was the one that he fought his emotions for, the one that he wanted to share his eternity, I was the one that he crushed my soul when he chose you over me And you, you’re the one that he married, you’re the one that he first gave his heart to, the one that he has so many memories with, the one that he used to turn to You’re the one that he has a family with, the one that sees him everyday, and me, I’m just the girl that he wanted to spend his life with, but reality got in the way You’re the true prize, you’re the winner in this story, not me, you’re the one that holds his heart, at least that is what I believe Why else would he have left me here after declaring that he only had ever loved me? Back then I believed that it was for his son, but now I don’t know what to believe You don’t know I exist, so maybe to you nothing ever changed, but he did love another after you, but what we shared it isn’t the same Yes he wanted the things with me that he now shares with you, and he once told me that he would find a way, that it would be us two Maybe looking into your eyes the guilt it ate him up inside, I can’t say what truly happened then what it was that changed his mind I just remember the phone call, the brokeness in his voice, the tears that he shed for me after he had made his choice The words that he spoke to me, all of the brokeness, the despair, the way that his voice cracked when he told me that he would always care The way that he said my name as he told me loved me so, and then it was all too much for him to bear so he had to go And our final conversations how he told me that he was doing what he had to do, but that he loved me just the same, but then again I guess he really loved you All that I was, I feel was just an obstacle, a way for him to see what wasn’t right, a way for him to mend what was broken and stand up and fight Fight for you, for your life together, what you two had already built, and leave behind the memories of the love that he had once found, that now feels him up with guilt So I hope that he treats you right, in the way that he always treated me, I hope that you see this version of him that he once showed to me I hope that he showers you with the affection that in my heart I still crave, I hope that he shows you that you’re the one who fulfills his days I hope that you know this side of him, this beautiful man that I once knew, and I hope that you appreciate him and forgive him for what back then with me he chose to do So I’m going to mail it, this letter that I have poured my heart in to, and I pray that it reaches you and you understand that in no way did I ever mean to hurt you.
