Lost and Found
My family decided to spend summer vacation at my dad's cantonment, there I came across a situation that would turn into a lifelong embarrassment. In the evening he would drop me at the park, he was always back before it was dark. Most days he was late, I hated to stand there and simply wait. One day I decided to go back home on my own, I was no longer going to stand and wait alone. Let me inform you I was ten year old, walking back home alone was a decision brave and bold. With confidence I walked ahead for sometime, until I realised I reached someplace unknown in the meantime. the place no longer looked familiar, there was something quite peculiar. In my mind a dreadful thought crossed, I could no longer deny that I was lost. I sat in the middle of the road and began to cry, dejected and hopeless looking at the passersby. Two good samaritans finally stopped, their leisure time was unceremoniously robbed. My house was near a playground surrounded by mango trees, the youngmen remarked that the playground was the key. There was only one playground in the area, the look on my face was pure euphoria. The two men safely dropped me at my home, I was scolded mercilessly and warned never again to roam. Next day again I was back at the park, with clear instructions to hark. Yet again I decided to defy, I didn't believe in the idiom, 'once bitten twice shy'. I decided to walk back home alone again, this decision was both surreal and insane. The past ordeal should have taught me a lesson, I suppose overestimating my capabilities was my obsession. In circles I went round and round, until I heard a familiar sound. Children screaming on a playground, relieved that I was back on my homeground. I finally reached my home safe and sound, this was the story of how I was lost and found. Contest : My favourite vacation Sponsor: L MILTON HANKINS
