Their hands no longer grip you, for they lay on the ground before you. They kneel disheartened on the ground begging you not to walk away, for their voice is all they have left to hold on with. You stand there and let them beg you. For days, weeks, months, you let them beg. Until their voice finally wears thin. They've torn holes in their throats trying to say what they need to, to hold on to what they've fought so relentlessly for. You can no longer hear them. You no longer feel their grip.
