Grandma Dyed Her Hair Bright Green
Grandma loved the Christmas scene She even dyed her hair bright green And though her bones did surely ache She somehow found the strength to bake Her cookies, sweets and cakes of fruit Had left them all in hot pursuit When Grandma left one fateful day Without a word, as one would say Christmas would not be the same Did they have themselves to blame? Cleaning, baking, decorating Took its toll, there’s no debating Where could she have gone and why? and leaving not a single pie! What, no tree of glittered light! Their poor house, oh, what a sight! Maybe they could clean and bake If some effort they would take Grandma would come back to see All her presents , ‘neath the tree But to find her, where to look A reindeer run down like the book? No, a friend had seen her hair! A bright green glow just sitting there Grandma was in a saloon! Holding her big baking spoon Knocking back drinks, one by one When they found her, on the run! Come back Grandma, they implored Brought her home as Grandma snored Waking to find Christmas cheer Lessons learned for the new year!
