The Bond
*** The Bond *** —-————————————- (Written for Bob Heman, my poet/artist friend since 1969, whose heart is very strong and will reach to all. Be well soon, I pray, dear Bob!) ——————————————— Seems strange how I Start watching That — UP — — Down — Then, there, again — UP — — Down — …I had been afraid, as My fingers were so frozen…I Did not want that to be your idea Of me or my spirit. But, I saw Then how my arm had extended My hand out ahead to greet Yours and the way our Meeting played Scales of Motion in The air … UP — — DOWN — While, my New acquaintance, You, did not notice The fear in my fingers … Or that my eyes rose from closed- Down to open, hoping to see you smile. Truly risky: to break a route thru The walls of oneself for another, Like throwing out life’s game-dice To roll with the thrill, plus the Dread — in that anticipation Of some luck, or a chance, For an inspired destiny, A miraculous fate? Pre-ordained that We would meet? And, bond in Fellowship? To share The path We walk… Years Long… —————————————————————- (c)sally young Eslinger 12/14/21
