Tumbling Flakes
Tumbling flakes weave a blanket of soft snow that covers Autumn's leaves with Winter's white. And blustery breezes begin to blow as the ground slowly disappears from sight and day can no longer hold off the night. Winter wails amidst a flurry of flakes Her crystalline aura, as clear as ice. And She begins to freeze rivers and lakes holding life ransom in cold's crushing vise, while waiting for Spring's warmth to meet Her price. As color gets whitewashed across the land, Autumn is buried beneath drifts of snow. And the naked trees stripped of their leaves stand barren, rooted to where nothing can grow, although it used to, not that long ago. A cold chill rides atop each frigid breeze and all the songbirds have long flown away. And the temperature drops by degrees till it is too cold to go out to play and the children are stuck indoors all day.
