The Fall
I'm fallilng. 'lept from the highest point, clouds beneath me, I have time to reflect. My lady once smiled, she then left me in disgust, Now I remember of how she wept. A flock of birds cross my path, are these like my family and friends of whom I knew but their memories are just fleeting thoughts as I raise my arms and towards the rainbow I aptly fuel Colors of the seasons of which I was acquainted now an arc to welcome my death. Where did I go wrong? Will I ever rest? I accelerate and fold into a fetal position... birth, marriage, parenthood. I lived life as a broken man, there is little I understood. The ground is near, the sounds of the city I begin to hear. Will God catch me? Will he hold me dear? The tree tops are now in my reach, to the viewers there's no more to teach. I close my eyes and nod my head, the ground begins to preach. Sunday, November 21, 2021 Your Life Flashes Before Your Eyes Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Matt Caliri
