Seeker of the Night
Blood and chills ran through my veins that day as I recall Although a summer’s eve, there was an eerie mist of fall Approaching that old house, I had seen no one at the gate A new employ, I had been charged with selling that estate In disrepair, the creaky door had opened just for me So I walked in and wandered as I put away my key Yes, I’d heard the rumors and the tales of small town lore The creatures of the night and such for me were just a bore I walked around and made a list of work yet to be done Cobwebs fused the threadbare drapes to block out all the sun It’s then I turned to see what caught the corner of my eye A figure in a gown with long black hair who said “Goodbye” Before I knew what overcame to hold my wits in check I felt her kiss of evil as she plunged into my neck Forever now to tread these halls I’ll never see the light For that’s the day that I became a seeker of the night
