Where Is He - Mystic
Breathless, I whisper his name Where is he? He hasn’t been around I know he is more than an old flame My love for him continues to abound There are days when I can’t smile Worry fills my mind with fright Sometimes I think I’m nearly senile Where, oh where is my shining knight? Nights are the worst with my fear Overwhelming my thoughts, my dreams Has it been only days or maybe a year? So long since I’ve seen his face it seems Tears stain my pillow as I continue to grieve Has he found another? How can it be? So long now – many days - since I saw him leave Dear Lord, do you think he could have gone to sea? Weeks passed and my thoughts were dreary How many days before I’d finally see him? All the possibilities – I sure had my theory Thoughts haunted me and I felt so very grim Time left me feeling like I was lost It was so true – I was assuredly beguiled Finally, in time, my threshold he crossed With my hand on my heart, we reconciled With My Hand On My Heart poetry contest Sponsored by Mystic Rose Rose October 11, 2021
