The Missing Link
As I reflect what do I remember? A random meeting in November when our lives collided. As we began our story the plot was heady, physical, but our spirits never met. They never did - in all that time, they never did, did they? We lived in a shallow pool; spirits strangers still; our souls still separate entities, while the physical became the focus. I tried to introduce us, me and mine, but yours was always busy. Otherwise engaged; on the phone, at work, or under the sea, and that left me lonely, solitary, calling but never heard. Just one word of tenderness from you would have changed it, but it never came. In all that time it never came - did it? And here we are; not only separate souls, but separate bodies too, and you feel hurt, wounded. Why? Just one word of tenderness could have changed it, but it never came - did it.
