Joyous sound a wonderous feeling soft feather down, the thoughts that once gave me joy now bring so much tears, how can the dreams of yesterday now bring memories of thoughts so unreal? The charms that once brought a smile to my face now bring a pain unbound, what I thought would last forever now haunts my dreams both day and night. Tears of bitter wishes keep my feet moving on away from the hurt I never thought I would feel when I declared my love to one such as thee. Rose petal's litter all around while the thorns they grew strong and pierced my soul, songs of joy like the plans we made now have disappeared on a cold wind’s blow. You made me believe your words like your touch was so true, looked in my eyes and held me close, all that I know now was lies to lead me down a path of despair. Told your lies behind my back as if they would never be found, the lights turned on when you left, the honesty you showed left me broken crying and all alone. Grey and rainy skies now gone, like a tree I grew strong on my own, friends I know came with strong hands to help lift my spirit up. Time ticked by and like the seasons new changes came, no longer call your name or am I held by your spiteful game. A new me is here and all lessons learnt keep me smiling, thanks to you no more a fool I will be. By Patrick D
