Holding Back Tears
Breathe deeply Drink cold water Squeeze a stress ball Tense up your muscles That's easy enough if I don't want tears. Tilt your head back Imagine your happy place Step away from the situation Watch and listen to something funny So far, stopping tears seems to be a doable task. The above are 8 out of 13 tips given by a web site*. Granted, if one wanted to take such tips, it would be easy enough. But would it be advisable to 'hold back tears' intentionally ? I suspect if there were 'dam breaking tears', that would be another matter. However, tears are where they are for a reason, and I suspect that it is a very healthy exercise to allow them to escape once in a while. Nevertheless, I am most intrigued by tip number 7, 'Step away from the situation'. In my case, I would be inclined to step away before the build-up begins. For example, I do not like 'tear-jerker' movies. So, where possible, I avoid them. Just listen to me. I'm saying that tears are a healthy and wholesome outlet. But yet, under certain circumstances, I seek to avoid them. Is that a contradiction or what? Maybe, perhaps, possibly, probably. I suspect it is. But that's just me. 072921PSCtest, This Or That, Vol 5, Edward Ibeh *Wiki How to do anything...
