Small Not So Strange Events
It’s been squally, razor rain, gales. The cat has taken to sleeping in the kitchen where there are less windows; The wind hammers at the front and back doors - it circles, then races off to spook you from another direction. A sparrow flew up under the eve of the roof, it clung to it kinda sideways-on the way parakeets do. I could see all this through the screen door, the wire netting was bulging in and out as I held onto the latch, then it seemed to me that the eyes in the birds head bulged, its plumage did a crazy dance, its neck got crooked and stiff then it just let go. The wind took the bird out onto the road where it fluttered. The gale kicked it around a bit then it was swept out of my sight. Later I sat down in front of the T.V., the series ‘When Sharks Attack.’ was on, I switched the channel.
