They asked her to wear her mask, if she went on a date. They cautioned her to not eat; or she would seal her fate. She had plenty of suitors, but when the mask came off. The men excused themselves with a summer cough. They were gone in seconds, for they did not like that face. We told her to keep on that mask, and do it with grace. But I am Cat Nose, she argued, whiskers are fine. We did not think so, but she walked a fine line. She finally met a man who liked whiskers on his gal. But politics was a contention with this fellow, Al. So Cat Nose remained single, her whole life through. A woman with whiskers, but what could we do? Men do not like whiskers on their women folk. So frankly, Cat Nose never had any matrimonial hope.
