The Cutless Supreme is also gone and the entire fleet of Oldsmobiles. Desirable cars of my childhood, succumbed to a downed economy. But I was privileged to drive them both before their untimely demise; the white Bonneville while yet a child; the grey Cutless I bought for my son. A span of 50 plus years has come and gone, but left me with car memories. From my childhood I recall the beautiful drive I experienced with the Bonneville. It was owned by an older cousin who dared to allow a little kid to drive his car. As we navigate our treasured lives, let us take time to live, learn, laugh, and love. Looking back, it occurred to me that he must have loved me more than his Bonneville. I tell you, Bonnevilles are gone, but my cousin left a never to be forgotten childhood memory. I loved the looks of the Cutless, and I felt the bond with the one I bought for my son. The manufacturer must have concluded that their beauties could not compete. I was fond of both cars, but I understood the way of the economy and the fuel crises. Nevertheless, they deserved better, and they should have found a way to keep the Cutless. So ladies and gentlemen, let us start the engines of our lives and enjoy the ride while we can. For indeed, all of us have a destiny, but we know not whether we are endowed with longevity. So, as we navigate our treasured lives, let us take time to live, learn, laugh, and love. 070821PS
