A Broken Person
In some new life of do or die I pondered what to be I thought about the reason why Until it came to me The promise of a dream come true Was written in my heart The freedom of an ocean blue Was just a world apart An empty canvass called to me In paint-by-number thrills My vision of eternity Would hardly pay the bills My calling was to navigate The fog that boxed me in To pick and choose my goodly fate And calculate a win If Father Zeus remembered me In all my victories won Then Mother Goose remanded me Before the day was done My self-esteem belittled more Than battled for my dreams The rainclouds of my nevermore Were battering my schemes I should've been content to live My life as I saw fit To settle down with those who give A hoot before they quit My aspiration followed me To land my true vocation But constipation hindered me Before I left the station I might’ve been the kindly youth Who barely made the grade Who followed blindly for the truth Behind a loud parade The vision of an older man Is still the better choice The promise of a bolder plan Is waiting for my voice.
