Redundant Conversation
“They are all liars and thieves!” She says. I have her on speaker, so I can paint while she complains. “She’s a psychopath,” She announces. “He’s a piece of…..” I lean down to pick up my glitter paint and miss that one. “And I told you about them,” she says “They are corrupt as you can get.” I am not sure if she means the maniac or the narcissist in the house next door. “Your brother?” I guess. “That psychopath!” She says. “Sure, let’s talk about that lunatic.” I reach for my hot pink neon and begin painting my next dragon. “He is such a loser!” She says “He stole from my parents! He’s a liar and a thief!” “I hope I never meet him,” I say. This satisfies her for another ten or twelve minutes. “Got to go,” I tell her. “It’s been fun talking to you.” Same conversation every time we meet on the phone. But she is my aunt, and it is only a bi-yearly visit, so I deal with it.
